The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manual Tester to join our team in Madeira, Portugal. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our finance platform through comprehensive test planning, execution, and documentation. This role requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively in English, and maintain high standards of quality assurance in a financial technology environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Planning & Design

  • Write detailed, comprehensive test cases based on business requirements and technical specifications.

  • Design test scenarios covering functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing

  • Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test scripts, and test data sets.

  • Identify edge cases and potential failure points in financial workflows

Test Execution

  • Execute manual test cases systematically and document results accurately

  • Perform thorough regression testing following system updates and releases

  • Conduct exploratory testing to identify issues beyond scripted test cases

  • Test complex financial calculations, invoice processing workflows, and payment integrations

  • Validate API integrations with banking systems and third-party services

Quality Assurance & Reporting

  • Log, track, and manage defects using issue tracking systems

  • Provide clear, detailed bug reports with steps to reproduce, expected vs actual results, and supporting evidence

  • Verify bug fixes and perform re-testing as needed

  • Collaborate with developers to clarify requirements and resolve issues

  • Participate in daily meetings and provide testing status updates

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate testing documentation for audit and compliance purposes

  • Ensure financial calculations and processes meet regulatory requirements

  • Document test coverage and testing metrics

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in software testing (manual testing)

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken communication)

  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and the SDLC

  • Experience writing and executing test cases and test plans

  • Proven ability to identify, document, and track bugs effectively

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking

  • Understanding of functional, regression, and integration testing

  • Basic understanding of SQL for data validation

  • Excellent written communication skills for bug reports and documentation

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in testing financial applications or fintech platforms

  • Familiarity with API testing concepts

  • Knowledge of banking/payment systems and workflows

  • Experience with test management tools (e.g., Jira)

  • Understanding of Agile/Kanban methodologies

  • Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

  • Experience testing AWS-based applications
