The Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded credit underwriter with experience in SMEs and corporate lending. This is a pivotal role that will shape our underwriting approach and ensure data-led, responsible decisions that scale with us.
This is a hybrid role with regular visits to our London or Hastings office.
How You’ll Contribute
Assess SME funding applications using accounting, banking, and open banking data.
Conduct financial analysis and credit scoring using internal tools and models.
Refine underwriting parameters, scoring models, and credit policies.
Prepare concise credit memos and support internal decision-making.
Monitor portfolio performance and recommend proactive adjustments.
Collaborate with tech and data science teams to improve underwriting workflows.
What We’re Looking For
Background: 3+ years in SME or corporate lending, ideally with fintech platforms.
Skills: Strong financial statement analysis, SME cash flow assessment, and data-led decision-making. Proficiency with Excel/Sheets, financial modelling, and working with open banking or API-fed data.
Bonus: Experience integrating AI or ML-driven tools into underwriting processes.
Plus: Deep fintech or SME-lending underwriting experience.
